My Sweet and Petite

so sweet and petite.
that's what everyone says - and
i candidly agree.

Janna is 6 months old! I can't believe it! Where has the time gone? It just boggles my mind...

The last 6 months have been kind of a whirlwind. Gabriel and Elliott are handfuls, and Janna is happy to go along with the flow. She's amazing. She's a bubbly, happy little lady. She adores her Big Brother and Sister (though I think she prefers Gabey - he's a little less rough that Elliott). When Jon gets home from work, Janna's whole face lights up. All she has to hear is the jingle of his keys, and she starts beaming and kicking uncontrollably. It's so cute! And of course she worships her Mama. She is MY girl. Both Gabriel and Elliott were Daddy's kids, but Janna is mine. She loves everyone, but she's definitely a Mommy's Girl. And I have to say that it is so nice - in fact, I LOVE IT!

Today was her 6 month check-up, and she's doing well. She's grown a bit, but she's still on the petite side. She's in the 95th percentile for height, but she keeps dropping lower and lower on the weight chart. Today she was in the 20th percentile. She's hitting her milestones, though, so I don't really have to be worried. But for some reason I am. I keep comparing her to her siblings (it's so hard not to), and she's behind them - pretty far behind them. Granted, they were ridiculously ahead of where they needed to be (they were both crawling/pulling up/cruising by 6 months, walking by 9), but that's what I'm used to. So seeing Janna not even attempting to do those things makes me kind of nervous. The doc said not to worry - everything was fine...except that she probably has acid reflux and a very nasty ear infection. So, needless to say, I feel like the world's worst parent. The acid reflux has been discussed for a few weeks now, but the ear infection?? How did I miss that? She's had a cold for a few weeks, but it wasn't major. She had a fever on Monday night, but within a half hour of a dose of Tylenol, she was back down to normal. She's been a little crankier than normal, but she's also teething. And she's sleeping and eating like a champion. I guess I just missed it.

So, we go to the cardiologist on Monday (Janna gets to have an EKG to check for heart troubles), and then we go back to the pediatrician in 2 weeks for a weight/ear check and shots. Should be fun times!

Haiku Time!!

it's nice and quiet
in my house right now, but i
know that will change soon

nap-time will end and
three overly busy kids
will run amok here

my phrase for the day
has been, "good thing you're so cute"
i love you, kiddos

It's Been a Long Week...

electrodes are not
a good fashion statement - no
matter what your age

The week started poorly - sick kids were in abundance. Janna was the only one who didn't seem to be sick. However, she has a whole set of issues all her own. She does this really weird thing with her neck - she touches the back of her head to her right shoulder, and then she manages to get it stuck. It's not cozy. She's been doing this since she was tiny, so it never really bothered me - until now. I called her ped. and took her in yesterday. Dr. C was concerned, and she told me she would call a neurologist. She did, and we were told to take Janna to the ER at Strong.
Long story short - Janna is fine (thank goodness). She's just "weird". She was pressed up against my hip bone in utero, so I can chalk her strange posturing up to her affinity for the position she was in for 9 months. I have to keep a record of all of her strangeness, and if it seems to get worse, then I need to take her back to Strong. Hopefully she'll stay as normal as I can possibly expect, but at least we got a chuckle out of her yesterday...
